Ok, I haven’t written something original in my blog for a long time. So here it goes this post describes how evil the world is to me. I have listed down 10 things that make the world such a cruel place to live in.

As opposed to the relatively new Digg API, the Facebook API has been available to developers since the summer. With more than 100 applications now featured in the Facebook Developers Product Directory, we decided it was time to cut through the clutter and pick out the ten that we think add the most value to the Facebook experience:

1.) Facebook Toolbar for Firefox – This application extends the Facebook experience to the browser. You receive automatic notifications of friend requests, new messages, and can check what your friends are up to in the “Facebook Friends Sidebar” feature. The toolbar also comes with the “share” link which allows you to quickly import and share any web site with your Facebook friends.

2.) rendezbook – Serving as an anonymous “MeetMe @ HotOrNot” type service, rendezbook lets you identify Facebook friends as someone you a) would like a stronger friendship with b) would like to date or c) would like to have a “random fling” with. Your preferences are anonymous, until of course the person you desire indicates the same feeling. The homepage claims more than 1,700 users so far, with a surprising 200+ matches already. I have left all boxes unchecked in this example :

3.) CampusRank – This site allows you to nominate people in the type of categories you might expect to find in a yearbook – Best Smile, Campus Clown, and even “Metrosexiest.” The service doesn’t appear to have a whole lot of traction yet, but perhaps they’re just waiting to show off users once they have more nominees.

4.) Friend Analyzer – This tool shows you which of your friends are most similar to you in a variety of categories. You can also see what the most popular items are in your network. It appears that I have rather feminine taste in music:

5.) College-Roomies – This service lets you search for other students looking for a roommate at your school. In addition to being able to check out the Facebook profiles of other students in search of housing, there is a cool split screen feature where you can see housing preferences (for example, cleanliness, smoking habits, etc.) that prospective roommates that they have filled out on the College-Roomies site:

Your True Self– This site is built around the premise that “your friends say a lot about you.” It analyzes your friends’ political views, favorite movies, music, television shows, and books to guess at things that you might like. For example, 5 of my friends like Family Guy, so Your True Self indicates that I might like it:

7.) The Friend Match – This service randomly pairs up two of your friends and allows you to rate on a 5 star scale how good of a dating match you think they make. If someone has matched you with someone else, you can see it under “My Matches.” I’m pulling a big goose egg so far.

8.) FbCal.com – The Facebook Birthday Calendar Generator creates an iCalendar (.ics) file with your friends and their birthdays that can be imported into iCal, Sunbird, and Google Calendar. For Outlook users, there is the Facebook Birthday Exporter.

9.) Facebook to Twitter – Facebook and Twitter in the same application? How have these guys not received millions in VC funding already!? In reality “FT” will save you maybe 37 seconds per year, as you need to point to the fbtwit.com site each time you want to automatically post your Facebook status to Twitter. Additionally, Facebook recently added the ability to update via SMS, so it’s unlikely many Facebook users will care much about updating Twitter with the same status message.

10.) Votetronics – This simple voting application allows you to setup a poll that only your Facebook friends can participate in. It seems like this would be an easy and logical feature for Facebook to add to the main service, as polls and surveys are always popular on social networking sites.

PlayStation 3 firmware upscales to 1080p

New firmware for the PlayStation 3 will upscale DVD movies plus PS1 and PS2 games to 1080p resolution on compatible HD TVs.

"The capability to upscale DVDs to HD quality is a feature normally only associated with top range DVD players, and its inclusion in the latest firmware upgrade now allows PS3 owners with an existing DVD collection to dramatically enhance the viewing pleasure of their DVD collection when viewed through a compatible HD TV set," Sony official said.

Upscaling DVD content requires an HDMI-compatible TV.

Available from today, the 1.80 firmware upgrade includes several other significant features, including the ability to view or play content stored on DLNA-enabled devices such as PCs and media servers on the same network. Dedicated media players sell for $US200 and up (significantly more for HD models) so this is a valuable feature.

The ability to print photos stored on the PS3's hard drive or removable media such as CDs will also be welcome, and will help extend the PS3's appeal. While nobody is going to buy a PS3 just for this capability, we can imagine younger would-be PS3 gamers saying "But Mum, if we get a PS3 you'll be able to print your photos without having to mess around with the computer." The downside is that it seems only certain Epson printers are supported, but we would expect to see other brands and models added if this feature proves as popular as we predict.

But upscaling of PS1 and 2 titles isn't the only thing the upgrade does for gamers - it also enables remote play of content stored on the PS3 across a broadband connection to a PlayStation Portable. Exactly how much bandwidth is required remains to be seen, and the feature requires the PSP to have the 3.50 firmware due by the end of the month.

When Apple founder Steve Jobs took the stage at Macworld in January, he stated how happy he would be if the iPhone managed to capture a 1% share of the 1 billion unit annual global market for mobile phones in its first year. Therefore, if the figures of a new purchasing intentions survey are accurate, Jobs should be jumping in the air and doing heel clicks. According to the survey from US-based market research firm Markitecture, 6% of 1300 mobile phone owners polled indicated that they were likely to buy an iPhone in the next 12 months. Much of the media is portraying this as a negative figure. However, given that an iPhone has not even been viewed let alone handled by the majority of mobile phone users, the survey result appears to be sensational. Translated into a global figure of annual unit sales 6% would be around 60 million iPhones sold, a market share to rival that of the highly successful Motorola RAZR. However, the news gets even better for Apple. According to the Markitecture survey, 77% were aware and 41% had a good impression of the iPhone based on everything they had seen or heard. What's more, familiarity with the iPhone is positively correlated with overall impression - strength of impression increases dramatically with increased exposure - 83% of those very familiar with the iPhone had an excellent or very good impression of the product. The survey cited the fact that two thirds of consumers surveyed said there was zero chance they would buy an iPhone. Once again, at this stage of the game, with no product in the market, it is a fair bet that Apple is not too dissatisfied with the knowledge that 33% of the market would at least consider an iPhone when making their next purchase. The biggest hurdles for Apple to overcome in selling iPhone into the mobile phones space, according to survey, were the high cost (US$499 and US$599), followed by carrier issues (just Cingular in the US) and contracts (iPhones will be sold with a two year contract). However, 6% of consumers surveyed have already indicated that they're willing to buy an iPhone despite the hurdles. If the product lives up to its promise after release and Apple manages to rope in a few more of the 33% prepared to at least consider the new phone, Apple could end up with a monster on its hands.

It’s funny how governments, in their bureaucratic wisdom, are so undecided on the games industry.

On one hand we have politicians and lawmakers like Hilary Clinton and Jack Thompson who clearly oppose the games industry and in particular the creation of violent games. Then on the flipside we have government branches that not only encourage video games but encourage VIOLENT video games. For example: America’s army and CC: First to Fight, games specifically made in part by the U.S. government that are clearly encouraging violence. Huh? So let me get this straight. Fictional games depicting copious amounts of blood and gore should seriously be considered for banning, but games depicting REAL violence in REAL places are not only alright but encouraged by the very same governments. It seems to me that these lawmakers moral high ground just got a bit smaller. So what’s the moral of this story?

Well I guess we can all relax a bit next time some Politician starts blaming games for the next school shooting, cause it was possibly one of their games that taught the kid to reload his SMG.

Heroes, Episode 20: You Dropped A Bomb On Me SPOILER

Heroes, Week 20: You Dropped A Bomb On Me: C’mon, did you really expect any other subject line?

You know, for all the talk about how Mr. Linderman’s plan to drop the bomb (so to speak) and destroy New York smacks of Ozymandius’s endgame in “Watchmen,” I dare say this week’s episode will have people saying, “Is it just me, or is this a whole lot like like a cross between the ‘Days of Future Past’ saga in ‘The Uncanny X-Men’ and the plot of ‘X-Men 3‘?” And they’ll be right. I mean, seriously, you go check out those Wikipedia entries, then come back here and tell me that I’m wrong…

Also, am I the only one who, at approximately 43 minutes into the show, uttered an obscenity under their breath? Holy mother of God, was that some shit or WHAT? But we’ll get to that…

So it’s five years in the future. What’s everybody’s story?

* Peter’s a major-league badass. Nice to finally see that scar Future Hiro spoke of so many episodes ago.
* Nikica’s a stripper AND Peter’s girlfriend. (Moral: being a badass has its benefits.) Oh, yeah, and she’s also not Nikica anymore. She’s just plain Nikki. Her husband’s gone, her son’s gone, Jessica’s gone…and we don’t really know for sure what happened to any of them, except that Micah’s demise is directly related to the explosion in New York.
* Mohinder is the advisor to the President of the United States on all things Hero-related, but despite everything that’s gone on during the last five years, it’s nice to see that he’s still naively hopeful about the chances for the future…to the point that he’s willing to commit murder to achieve it.
* Matt Parkman’s working for Homeland Security (along with Brother Voodoo), and he’s become a complete and total dick.
* HRG’s rustling cattle in Texas…okay, well, not really. But that’s the phrase Nikica used, and it made me laugh. It appears that he’s actually part of an underground movement to keep Heroes safe from the government by providing them with false identities. He’s also given up his trademark glasses! What the hell…?!?
* Claire’s a waitress who’s changed her name and her hair color and is on the verge of getting married.
* Hiro’s a fucking terrorist.
* And Ando…well, let’s not discuss Ando’s future fate. It makes me sad.
* Nathan is the President of the United States…though, of course, we knew that was coming…but did we really imagine that he’d become pro-genocide, especially given that he’s a Hero himself? Why would he do that?

Oh, wait, I know why he’d do it: because he’s SYLAR! HOLY CRAP!

There were a lot of great moments in this episode, but a very small one particularly stood out for me: how sad was that pitifully honest thought of Hiro’s that Matt caught? “I just want to be a hero.”

I also loved this exchange:

Parkman: So he’s a time traveler…?
Mohinder: Is that any different than being able to read minds?
Parkman: Uh, yeah. Yeah, it is.

Other nice moments: a newscaster’s reference to “the Linderman Act,” the way Parkman yelled “WHAT?” after Peter busted in, stopped time, and swiped Future Hiro and Ando from underneath his and his people’s noses, and the sheer depth of Parkman’s assholosity, when he thanks HRG for saving his child, then proceeds to threaten his life and go after his adopted daughter. Hey, if you’re gonna become an asshole, don’t do it in half measures, right? Which is why he goes on to kill Future Hiro before the episode’s over.

Okay, so the battle between Sylar and Peter had way too much of a Darth Vader vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi overtone to it, with the red and the blue lights. I still found myself thinking, “This is AWESOME!”

“Now, the hard part,” indeed. These three last episodes are going to be something else. I say again: there’s no other show on TV that’s as must-see as “Heroes.”

Not officially released until April 29, a Californian man has managed to purchase an Xbox 360 Elite and put it on eBay somewhat ahead of schedule.

The HDMI and 120GB HDD black games console is due for release at the end of this month. It would seem however, that at lease one Californian Target store has jumped the release day gun, selling the Xbox 360 Elite over a week early.

Only an ambush will be able to stop Australia. That's the consensus after a bizarre and deliberately staged mismatch between the team most tipped to win the World Cup and their nearest - yet still distant - challenger. After Stephen Fleming last week managed New Zealand's defeat against Sri Lanka in a bid to enhance their longevity in the competition, this time it was the Sri Lankans who indulged in a bit of by-play. Knock-out time is nearing, but the pretenders to Australia's title are still wheeling around the favourite, ducking and bobbing and striving for the merest hint of an opening.

Sri Lanka's captain, Mahela Jayawardene, tried to deny that his key bowlers, Muttiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas, (and the injured Lasith Malinga) had been rested for tactical reasons, but nobody truly believed his protestations. When you set a trap for a beast as big, powerful and terrifying as the Australians, timing is everything. To have sprung a major surprise in a game as meaningless as this encounter had become would have been a criminal waste of their energies.

Forget all the talk of victories building momentum and other such clichéd interpretations. Ricky Ponting's Australians are so crushingly focused that a defeat would have been like a ricochet off a rhino's hide. Australia would have stored up the indignity, redirected their fury, and doubtless entered the semi-finals even more determined to crush all resistance. One look at Ponting's thousand-yard stare tells you that much.

"To tell you the truth it doesn't worry me one little bit," he said, having long since dispensed with the platitudes in press conferences. "They obviously had some you-beaut plan going into the game, to rest a couple of the best players, but that's fine with us. We'll take a comprehensive win against Sri Lanka this close to the finals.

"I don't know their reasons and I don't care. It's out of our control. We put our best team on the park to win the game and we clearly finished on top which is great. If they want to make it through and win the World Cup they are more than likely going to have to play us again at some stage. They've got to bounce back from what we've done to them, but that's for them to worry about, not us."

Sri Lanka will face all sorts of accusations in the coming days of bringing the game into disrepute and of devaluing the World Cup with their tactics. But if the shielding of their star bowlers pays any sort of dividends come the business end of the competition, then hindsight will not only forgive them but thank them as well. Australia, for the eighth match running, learned little of relevance about their opponents, and once again, their former world No. 1 batsman, Michael Hussey, was left to fester in the pavilion. His event has stalled at a mere 50 runs from 72 balls faced.

"It must have been a fairly frustrating tournament for him," Ponting said in a statement that contained the only glimmer of compassion he was willing to emit all day. "The top-order guys have done the job, but there is going to be a time in this tournament when Andrew Symonds, Hussey and maybe Brad Hodge are going to have to do some very important batting for us." Sri Lanka are determined that that moment should come in the final in 12 days.

For that to happen, however, they will need to raise their game to levels higher than their second-string managed, and it was a serious concern for Jayawardene that his batsmen folded quite as readily as they did on a fairly blameless pitch. Ponting would have batted first had he won the toss, and so for Sri Lanka to be all out for 226, with a collapse of 5 for 17 undermining their recovery from early setbacks, was not the message that Jayawardene had hoped to send out.

"We know we can compete but we are disappointed with the way we played today," Jayawardene said. "We made a lot of mistakes and when you do that against a quality side they will definitely punish you. Yes, they managed to get our score pretty easily and our bowlers didn't look that penetrative, but I don't think they bowled particularly well either, given the conditions."

A total of 250 might have turned this into a contest, but Nathan Bracken pulled Sri Lanka's strings in an exemplary four-wicket stint, and Shaun Tait bounced back from a scattergun first spell to take two crucial wickets with his out-and-out hostility. "Every game we've tried to make a bit of a statement and we've done it again," Ponting said. "The only team we haven't bowled out is Bangladesh and that was over 22 overs."

The answer to the question that has been on every prison break fan’s lips is right here. Yes there will be a season 3. Season 3 of Prison Break (which may have a different name announced soon) will be premiered on 29^th August 2007, almost 5 months after the season 2 finale. Most of the conspiracy storyline (about 90%) will be wrapped up by the end of season 2, and the third season will have a completely new plot. Scheuring quotes “The audience will definitely get closure. It'll feel like this is the endgame of the story, and yet there will be a few unanswered questions.

The third season will have eight major roles, including new additions to the cast. Most of the surviving crew will be brought together somehow, and there will be one or two new faces. When asked about the fate of Mahone played by William Fichtner, fans were told that Scheuring was very happy with William, hinting that Mahone will make a comeback in season 3.

One of the new additions is a female character who is Michael’s equivalent in intelligence, and she will act as a love interest for one of the guys. Who will it be? Your guess is as good as mine. Scheuring also let slip “And she would seem to be coming down on the side of good initially, but there will be questions [about] whether that's a facade.”

Ausiello quotes: “Paul Scheuring also teased that Season 3 would feature "a different storytelling process" that will begin to "play out in the last couple episodes of Season 2" and "leave some cliff-hangers, including one with Sara."

Sara Tancredi fans may have been worried that she may be killed off because the actress playing her, Sarah Wayne Callies, is pregnant, but Ausiello assures us that she’s safe. He says that Paul Scheuring won’t kill her off because he believes that Sara Tancredi is a strong component in the show. Sarah is due in the late summer, which coincides with the premiere of season 3, and she will be gone for a while, but will be back soon after the birth of her child. Scheuring says that her disappearance will fit into the plot, but refuses to confirm rumours of Sara Tancredi being kidnapped. Season three will provide some of our favourite characters with redeeming moments. Michael Scofield's tattoo still has one more important role to play before the second season ends. Not everyone at the Paley Festival Event will survive to see season three. The show will continue to shoot in Dallas for season three, with secondary units covering Florida and Lousiana. The cast present at the Paley Festival were Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows), Sarah Wayne Callies (Sara Tancredi), Robert Knepper (T-Bag), Wade Williams (Captain Brad Bellick), Rockmond Dunbar (C-Note) and Amaury Nolasco (Sucre).

“It’s the first baby in eighteen years…"

Just watched this awesome movie, Children of Men, which according to me would fall in to the genre’s of drama, thriller. The movie takes you to 2027 where humans have not been able to give birth for the last eighteen years. The movie starts off where Theodore Faron played by Clive Owen enters a coffee shop and the news is on announcing the death of the youngest person on earth, who was 18 at the time he died. The movie continues to an even that would change Theo’s life, which is to take a young pregnant woman to the English border.

The reason I like this movie so much is for its ability to take the viewer in to the movie through its cinematography. I loved how they made you see things the way Theo saw them and the great effect such as the gun fire. The director has paid attention to great detail in the movie, such as incidents happening in the background of the scene while the main story is going on. Great acting by Clive Owen who performed in the movies Arthur and The Inside Man. He did well when presenting the feelings going through Theo’s head during the incidents in the movie.

Children of Men was nominated for film editing, writing (adapted screenplay) and cinematography at the 79^th Annual Academy Awards in 2007.

A lot has happened in 10 years, Tomb Raider first came out in 1996, with one of the best story-line's in games of the time, and up and until now it has stayed true to its word. A female archaeologist named Lara Croft emerged as a heroin that would go to the ends of the world to discover something, rescue someone, or for a rush of adrenaline. Tomb Raider has given its fans the experiences from great game play, stunning action sequences and some of the most fun and challenging puzzles in games of all time.

Now 10 years after, Eidos Interactive has announced the release of Tomb Raider: Anniversary in May 2007. It’s a remake of the original game with the new rendering technology used in Tomb Raider: Legends, with an improved story line, and superior animations which will deliver the best entertainment.

For someone to grow up with Tomb Raider it certainly is an experience, from seeing the character mature over the years, to see the story reveal itself and the game play get better with each game released, is a pride for some one who grew up with the game. Certainly the adventure for Lara Croft and for the die-hard fans of the game, it has only just begun, there will be more to add to this great adventure over the years to come.

Was at home doing project work when I had to make this decision, as in what to have for lunch? Well the part about what food to have was obvious, Pizza of course my favorite food. The decision lay in the place, Pizza Hut or Dominos.

Now I'm a loyal customer for Pizza Hut, but my friend Uchitha had told me earlier about this offer that Dominos was giving out "any large pizza for Rs.800, and free cheese wedges and the dip plus two bottles of coke", now I know this meal is for four people, but my greed got the best of me. A large pizza at Pizza Hut would cost me around Rs.850 and this was a deal the only problem was in the taste. I’m so fond of the taste at Pizza Hut, and I have tried out Dominos before and it doesn’t match up to Pizza Huts standards, but nevertheless I ordered Dominos.

And here I am after having a large Pizza of Dominos which would have originally cost me some 900+ rupees, ate 3 out of the four cheese wedges and had a bottle of coke.

The pizza was pretty good better than I expected, and if you are four people eating this it’s a good deal. I still give Pizza Hut a thumbs up, but Dominos did give me a good deal for my money and it has improved since I last had it, so PH better start doing something to retain this valuable asset.

Well good news at last my cousins from Canada are coming over for a visit they’ll be coming on the 18th. God! It’s been ages, was speaking to them yesterday (on the phone) about how excited they were about the trip. Been almost 5 years since they left, it took me awhile to get used to the fact that they were gone. They were my neighbors since the day I was born, so it was so weird not seeing the people you used to see every single day. The question is will I have enough time to spend with them with Apiit and all? Well my life has been really good and going well until yesterday.

Well when I got home after Apiit on Friday, my mother was treating my female dog Penney’s rear paw (I have two dogs Mickey and Penney, both Dashands - sausage dogs) anyway she had not been able to walk all day on Friday. We assumed that something had bitten her on the paw.

Yesterday (Saturday) when I got back from Apiit my father explained that they had taken Penney to the Vet and he had said that she has all the symptoms of a dog that has had a slip disk which mean her spine has broken and she’s paralyzed from the hip bellow. She drags her self from her front paws these days.

The Vet also says that Penney won’t eat because she wont go to the can (you know what I mean the toilet) she’s said to die in about a week without eating she doesn’t seem to be in pain though. But it’s so sad to see her drag her self around the house, we are considering the option of giving her a lethal injection these days. I’m so sad for Mickey because he howls when ever Penney gets locked in a room or is taken to the vet I don’t know how he will react.

Penney’s just there in a corner of my room sleeping with half of her body lifeless.

Yesterday we went on a trip to awisawela the bunch from Apiit. It was a day trip because as always the girls were not allowed to spend the night out of their homes. Had so much of fun!!!!!! It was sort of a cabin with a jungle and a river running around it we went for walks in the jungle and went on boat rides in the river, swam in the pool.

IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And today it’s back to normal life….. And smiles…

Wow, how blind could I have been not to see how many wonderful friends that I have. Old friends as well as new. I was never the person to open up to people fast, but my new friends back at APIIT seem to be opening up to me. Well once again thank you to all my friends. I do forget all my problems when I come to APIIT, it's like I hang all my worries out side those doors and go in, and the weird thing is when I get back out most of the worries are gone away when I meet them again. Ok Sachi called last night... Good to hear from her again... Her calling me actually helped me get through todays day I mean I know we have broken up and all but today I was over her.... I won't move on to another girl or anything, not for a long time. I'm hoping to focus on my studys now. But I was not hurt today the pain actually reduced, I'm sure I'm going to be able to study well tonight.

Oh..... yeah DCN exam clashing with my CIM exam which is CC next Monday. DCN is in the morning and CC is in the evening, how can this sort of things be happening to me I don't think I'll study for DCN though. If I miss the DCN exam I'll have to repeat it next year with the new batch.... which in turn will delay my results.... DAMN is now a everyday word for me....

APIIT life is good, the only place I can have fun. I have gone to APIIT by 7.45am for two weeks now, because I know that this place can make me happy.

And I feel all my problems and worries coming back to me when I step out of those sliding doors.

Today everyone was busy because our batch had to decorate the 1st floor of APIIT for christmas everyone was busy running around.

Guys I know I wasn't of any help but, you guys were a big help to me, joking around or just hitting and running around tables, I'm sure I'm going to have a good three years here.

There is still more to study at least after next week a huge weight would have lifted off of me.
